Description Learning from the point of view of artificial intelligence with contributions from philosophy and psychology. Readings and discussions will cover concept learning, compilation and intelligent caching, knowledge-based generalization, reasoning by analogy, inductive learning, architectures for general learning systems, knowledge-level analysis of learning systems. A substantial project will be undertaken.
