 ch laboratory that conducts basic scientific research in the field of co
 mputational biochemistry under the direct scientific leadership of Dr. D
 avid E. Shaw\, who serves as its Chief Scientist. At present\, the lab i
 s involved primarily in:\n\n* The design of novel algorithms and machine
  architectures for high-speed molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of pro
 teins and other biological macromolecules.\n\n*The application of such s
 imulations to basic scientific research in structural biology and bioche
 mistry\, and to the process of computer-aided drug design.\n\nMembers of
  the lab include computational chemists and biologists\, computer scient
 ists and applied mathematicians\, and computer architects and engineers\
 , all working collaboratively within a tightly coupled interdisciplinary
