Fun places to run in the Bay Area:
- Crystal Springs Reservoir. The ends are hard to find, so I'll put up a link soon. It's about six miles long. If you park at one end, and want to run the whole thing (here's the tough math) it adds up to 12 miles.
- Rancho San Antonio. This place has all kinds of trails, nice scenery and plenty of trails. You could easily run anywhere from two to twelve miles here. This is my favorite place to run just because of the diversity of trails and variety of hills.
- Los Gatos Creek Trail. Starts somewhere near highway 17 and highway 9. Goes up to Lexington Reservoir.
- Golden Gate Park. This place is huge with plenty of places to run. Nice if you're stuck in the city and don't want to deal with all the traffic lights.
- The Presidio. Beautiful, hilly, and if you are interested, you can jog across the Golden Gate Bridge. On a beautiful day, you may just want to stop running and enjoy the scenery.
Fun places to run in Seattle:
- Burke-Gilman trail. Runs from the North tip of Lake Washington, along the West side of the lake, through the UW campus, by Lake Union, and then ends somewhere near Fremont or Ballard.
- Green Lake. Has a 2.9 mile loop around the Lake.
- Lake Washington Park. Just South of the Montlake bridge, there is a large park which encompasses a couple islands and has a lot of room to go running. Good for an "exploration" run.
- Lake Union. Running a loop around this is a good 6.5+ miles.
- In the spring, running down a lot of neighborhood streets is nice. All the trees are blooming and the flower petals are all over the ground. So, even though the houses here are old and falling apart, the trees make up for it.
