You're in love, and everything is right with the world. Well, it's close enough to perfect that nothing else really matters. The reason for your joy?
April Chu...
You sigh even when you're just thinking of her name, when you think of her long, silky black hair, her radiant smile, her warm red lips...
April...
You met her during your sophomore year at UCLA, where you've been studying economics. You were just goofing around with your roommate, Nic, when your friend, Jenni Wong, introduced the two of you to April. From the moment you laid eyes on her, you were caught. At first, you felt a little shy and nervous, but you noticed that you were a bit peeved when Nic started his usual macho swagger around her. She was smart enough not to fall for his little act, and the four of you just hung out for the rest of the day. Afterward, you walked April back to her dorm, talking along the way. Sure, she was pretty and fun, but you also got to know how sweet she was, how she cared about her family, and how hard she worked at her classes. Pretty soon, the two of you were meeting for lunch and dinner every day, and Nic started complaining that you would barely hang out with him anymore. Somewhere along the way, she started referring to you as her boyfriend, and things have been going pretty well for over a year now.
This year, you moved out into an apartment with Nic. He thought that you guys could save some money by sharing a room again, but you wanted the privacy of your own bedroom, so you ended up springing for a larger place. April appreciated the extra privacy, and she made you very appreciative of it as well. In any case, you haven't seen much of Nic around the apartment lately.
The only thorny issue has been her father, who doesn't like her dating someone who isn't Chinese. He's also put pressure on April to become a doctor, but she's more interested in becoming a biologist. April assures you that he'll ease up eventually, but you know how important her father's feelings are to her, and you know that it's causing her a lot of pain. Her family has a lot of money, and her dad manages a large holding company or something, so she doesn't get the chance to see him very often. Each time he has come for a visit, you've tried your best to talk to him and to make a good impression, but he's always been cold and distant to you. You can barely stand him rudely ignoring you, but you try to keep your temper under control for April's sake. Nic doesn't think it's worth the trouble, but you'd do anything to make April happy.
Finally, Mr. Chu gave you a chance to prove yourself. He needed someone to deliver a package to April's grandparents in San Francisco, but he and April would be busy visiting her mother's grave this weekend. You're not sure what's in the box, but April thinks it might be some of her mother's old belongings. It's not the most convenient trip, but you know this is the breakthrough that April has been hoping for, and you can always visit your parents in Palo Alto while you're up north. Nic has offered to keep you company, so maybe you'll finally be able to find out what he's been up to. His dad has probably been down on him about his grades again. You've been spending a lot of time with April, and you feel a little bad about neglecting your friends, so this is your chance to make things up to him.
At the beginning of the game, you'll want to talk to Nic, just as you might on a real train ride. He hasn't seemed himself lately, not that you've seen him very often, and you'd like to find out why. He's been spending even more time at the library than he normally does (which is already a lot, considering his heavy class load and the fact that he works there part-time), but he never seems to be caught up with his studying. This is kind of surprising, since he's really bright, and he's never had trouble keeping up before. Of course, you might want to talk about April and the mysterious box, too. When one of the judges announces the explosion, (safely!) fling yourself out of your seat, scream, cry out to the Heavens, or go nuts, as appropriate. Don't go overboard, as pretty much everyone should be dead within a few moments. When you die, just lie still on the ground with your eyes closed until a judge announces the continuation of the game.
When you wake, you'll be devastated to realize that you've died and left April behind. Life was so full of joy and wonder, but it's all been cruelly ripped away from you. How could the world be so unfair?!? Maybe there's still a way to reach April or at least some way to leave her some reminder of your love. At least Nic is here with you. You know that it's kind of selfish, but you're glad to have a familiar face around. Maybe he'll help you figure out what's going on, so you can find a way to say good-bye to April.
You won't let anyone badmouth April. You'll want to tell people about how wonderful and lovely she is.
