Blooper: Incorrect Spelling and Distance, SB I-880 at US-101
This temporary sign on southbound I-880 at the US-101 interchange has TWO bloopers on it. First, Coleman is spelled with an e. Second, the exit is 1 and 1/2 or 1.5 miles ahead, not 11/2 or 5.5 miles as the sign indicates.

This temporary sign was placed here because of the ongoing construction project to widen the segment of I-880 between Montague Expressway (2 miles behind where this photo was taken) and this interchange.

Blooper: County Route G2 (Lawrence Expressway) Onramp/Offramp Signage
Looking at this picture, it's fairly obvious what the problem is. This road near county route G2 (Lawrence Expressway) is signed as both northbound and southbound G2, but it is NOT part of route G2!

This road has several functions:
1. Offramp from northbound I-280 to Stevens Creek Blvd. (the cross street in the background)
2. Offramp from northbound I-280 to northbound Lawrence Expressway. NB Lawrence Expressway is accessed by proceeding straight through the traffic signal.
3. Offramp from northbound I-280 to southbound Lawrence Expressway via westbound Stevens Creek Blvd. To get to southbound Lawrence Expressway, you turn LEFT onto Stevens Creek and then left again after crossing under Lawrence Expressway.
4. Offramp from northbound Lawrence Expressway to Stevens Creek Blvd.
5. Offramp from northbound Lawrence Expressway to northbound I-280 via westbound Stevens Creek Blvd. To get to I-280, you turn left onto Stevens Creek at the signal, cross under Lawrence Expressway, then turn right onto the northbound I-280 onramp.

Needless to say, this is one of the most confusing interchanges in the South Bay. Three major roads (I-280, G2, and Stevens Creek) all intersect and all of them are grade separated. You'd think they could at least get the signs right. These signs should tell people to go straight to get to northbound G2 and turn left to get to southbound G2.

Blooper: CA-85 mile markers on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road
This CA-85 mile marker on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road is less than half a mile from where I live, at the intersection of Verde Vista Lane and Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. It clearly shows the route number (085), county (SCL) and mile (11.14). If you look closely, you can just barely see the street sign with the name "Verde Vista" at the top of the picture.

CA-85 used to be routed along Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, but with the completion of the freeway between Mountain View and South San Jose in 1993, Caltrans transferred the 85 number to the freeway and ceded control of this road to the city of Saratoga. Most of the CA-85 mile markers were removed from Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, but this one is still there today.

Same problem as above, but at a different location. Here is the second CA-85 mile marker that wasn't removed, this time on northbound Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road just before Miljevich. The mile marking seems to have worn off on this one, but it still displays the incorrect CA-85 route number.

This is the third remaining CA-85 mile marker, about 1/2 mile down the road from the previous picture, at the intersection with Pierce Road. Pierce Road approaches from the left and terminates at the traffic signal. Off to the right is a shopping center.
