Look! We're standing in a fountain without getting wet!. (HKN in-joke for those who don't know. This was one of the clues in a photo scavenger hunt we did.) This fountain is located outside the student union building at ISU.

GM1: Visit from Dr. Bill Wattenburg Inventor and KGO talk
show host Bill Wattenburg was the host speaker at General Meeting 1. His
discussion centered mainly on a truck-stopping device he invented to allow
the cops to stop hijacked fuel tanker trucks. He then allowed HKN
officers, members, and candidates to ask questions, told about his
experiences as an EE grad student and professor at Cal, and even offered
some of his opinions on what's missing from UCB's current EECS
curriculum.
After the speech was over, Dr. Wattenburg stayed around to answer any
further questions anyone might have had.

Officer Retreat at Bodega Bay
This semester's officer retreat was at Bodega Bay. HKN rented a house for two nights, and we
spent a lot of time just relaxing, playing games, and doing puzzles.
Putting together a 1000 piece puzzle
Playing video games
The longest game of Fluxx I have ever played. It lasted well over 30 minutes!
Relaxing in the living room
Other activites included playing ultimate frisbee on the beach, and going crab
fishing on the pier in Bodega Harbor.

Most of the crabs we caught were non-edible spider crabs
Eating crab for dinner
On the way back to Berkeley, we stopped at the In-N-Out Burger in Rohnert Park for lunch. Almost everyone ordered
a meal from the traditional In-N-Out menu (burgers, fries, sodas, shakes, etc.), but HKN also discovered that In-N-Out
has a secret menu which includes fresh-caught Dungeness crab!! Really. I have pictures to PROVE it!

Fall Semester 2001
Trailhacking
HKN again went to the Arastradero Preserve in Palo Alto to help improve
the trails and prevent erosion during the rainy season. The event, officially
called "Trailhacking X: If You Were A Large, Rusty, And Potentially Deadly
Trailhacking Tool, What Kind Of Large, Rusty, And Potentially Deadly Trailhacking
Tool Would You Be, And Why", was a success, and REI, one the hosts of the
event, was even nice enough to pass out prizes afterward.

Bridge School Benefit Concert
Every semester, HKN has one big activity. This semester, we went to
the Bridge School Benefit concert at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain
View. Artists such as Dave Matthews Band, Tracy Chapman, Pearl Jam,
and REM gave an 8 hour long concert that lasted until after midnight.
