[HKN Alumrel] October Newsletter(sic) Fall 2001 Sent to Officers, Alumni How are YOU doing!! Sorry, I just recently rediscovered one of the better Budweiser marketing campaigns. I did an internship at a place which made commercials so I can appreciate a good one. Anyway, enough of my babbling and on to the news. Administrative Junk: (Repeats) Unless you're Alan Chou :) -Still searching: The following alumni, should get in contact with me. Alan Chou (I'm waiting for your scheduling queue to clear up. :P), I dug up your info from an older copy of the database, if you could resubmit using the form at hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu, I'd be much obliged. (REPEAT) -Alumni section now has a database of old newsletters just in case you missed em. Well not really database, but browsable. I'll leave it txt files until someone decides to contribute content. (Hint hint pictures), and then maybe I'll build an html version. http://hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu/alumni/Newsletters/ (REPEAT) -I now have a pretty version of the alumni list available upon request. I'll soon password protect and pass out the password, if you'd like to see it, email me. (REPEAT) Tshirts Yearbook: -Yippee they're done. Planning on sending them out this week. Check out the list at: http://hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu/alumni/tshirts.txt If you're on the list, you're gonna get one. The converse is also true. Some of you didn't include addresses or Tshirt Sizes. Give me the fixed info if you want it. If you're in the area and want to just pick one up, tell me so I can prepare the package. If you'd like to be notified if we have extra tickets, just email me. Potluck- Where: TBA When: Sat Oct 27 6-8 pm One of two mandatory meetings for Candidates. Officers bring food. I guess Alumni could to. Come enjoy the cooking skills of EECS Majors. LA Activities- As you know, I've been compiling a list of those alumni interested in LA activities. I've decided I need some help. If you're in LA and would like to be the ORGANIZER for events, ie brainstorm, and get in contact with fellow alumni, please email me. And it's still not too late to get in contact with me for getting on the LA list. -while (1){ check(Calendar,Often) } Alumni to Alumni: Greg #1: Alan #? Alan Chou Some have wondered what this section is. This is just a place for alumni to pass any ideas and thoughts they randomly have to other alumni. Think of it as a graffiti board. Of course if you have any important events, ie (Marriage, new job) you can pass it to me too. Generally, whenever a new Alumni posts to the signup list, there's a comment they can optionally leave. I take those too. Here's the format for those who care. Target: Message Sender -Help!!! I realize this is short notice, but I need information from Alumni Asap. HKN reps are presenting to a local high school information on what happens as an EECS major. They asked me a week ago for statistics but I messed up big (aka forgot). Basically, they'd like statistics on what happens to alumni after they graduate, grad schoo, Work, etc. If you'd like to partcipate for the information gathering, email Morgan @ chenm@hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu, and give him any info you think would help a High School decide to do EECS. Thanks, Alan Comments: (REPEATS) -Personally, I'd like to establish a tradition where Alumni feel that its normal to come to HKN events when they're in the area. To the point that any members/officers feel strange if there are NO alumni in attendance. I realize that this is a major shift in attitude from before, but I think it can be done gradually. I understand the major concern is most Alumni wish to "know" at least another alumni before they show up, and I understand that. So here's my suggestion, next time you see an event and want to go, but want other alumni, why don't you message them directly and come as a group, and when here, make a point to meet some current members so coming by yourself won't feel strange. Just my rambling. Thanks for listening. :) (REPEATS) -I've been considering getting us a messageboard on HKN so communication would be easier overall. I'd like feedback on this idea, whether you think you'd use it. Or any other concerns about it. Thanks in advance. (REPEAT) -As an additional note, just so we have it in writing. We are NEVER going to sell your personal information you have entrusted us with. The only people who will have access to the list are Officers with a need for it to perform their duty, and OTHER alumni on the list. If however, you'd like more privacy than that, please feel free to tell me. This system is built around YOU. (REPEAT) -If you run into any old HKN who don't know about the Alumni network we're trying to build, please point them our way. (REPEAT) -If you consider this spam, and would like to be removed from the Alumnilist, please reply and I'll handle it. (REPEAT) Alan Tse HKN AlumRel FA01
