[HKN AlumRel] Start of School 2001 Newsletter This message sent to alumni, officers, and old-officer. Hello again, Against my own hopes, information keeps coming in that requires a fairly constant need to keep our alumni updated. :) So here I go again. Note: In an effort to make this thing easier to read, I'm marking off sections that are skippable with a (REPEAT), assuming you've read the direclty previous edition. Administrative Junk: -Old-officers, some of you might be receiving this twice. I was informed that Old-officers might be alumni, and I'm giving you a chance to get onto the Right list. This is the last time I send to old-officers so if you'd like to be kept updated. Head to hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu/alumni/ and signup! -Still searching: The following alumni, should get in contact with me. Alan Chou, Jeff Shneidman- I dug up your info from an older copy of the database, if you could resubmit using the form at hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu, I'd be much obliged. (REPEAT) -If you signed up again on the alumni-list to correct or add data anytime since early July, please do so again. Due to a confusion in file permissions, that data was lost. If in doubt, go ahead, I'll manually confirm it. -Alumni section now has a database of old newsletters just in case you missed em. Well not really database, but browsable. I'll leave it txt files until someone decides to contribute content. (Hint hint pictures), and then maybe I'll build an html version. http://hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu/alumni/Newsletters/ -I now have a pretty version of the alumni list available upon request. I'll soon password protect and pass out the password, if you'd like to see it, email me. Tshirts/Yearbooks: -Just got informed by bridge that I should wait a month for the new yearbook. So I should _start_ sending out yearbook/tshirts in a month. I apologize for the delay. (REPEAT) -If you haven't received either shirt or yearbook, please tell me, with your current mailing address, and I'll fix that situation. For any alumni I've already talked to, this doesn't apply to you. :) Just a note, I'll be waiting until the new yearbook is produced before sending it out. If you'd like the older one, inform me, I can send both if Bridge lets me. Activities: _REPLY ASAP_Alumni Appreciation When: Friday, Sept 7, 2001 6:00pm - 9:00pm (Earlier is better cause OSF is anal) Week _AFTER_ labor day Where: Old Spaghetti Factory, Jack London Square, Oakland -FREE! (One meal, including a drink.) -Additionally, each alumni is allowed one guest who will be covered by HKN. If you're bringing one, inform me asap so I can update the number list. -There is currently a list of who's RSVPed. http://hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu/alumni/OSFrsvp.txt Attendance is looking up, so I look forward to seeing you all. Remember 6 pm sharp, we need 70% before we can get seated. If you're gonna be late, inform me. -PreGame BBQ When: Saturday, Sept 8, 2001 11:00am-1:00pm Where: Meet at Soda Volleyball Courts Note: We originally planned the OSF dinner on Friday to allow for an event on Saturdy with the alumni. Unfortunately there was a communication issue, so we couldn't plan anything big. But it'd be cool if any alumni who were free could drop by in the morning before the game to enjoy some hamburgers and hotdogs. There are currently no guarantees on getting a ticket to the game, tho I think there's a decent chance. So after the BBQ you can come to the game with us and see if the team has gotten any better. There should be a few people who aren't going to the game, so a spur of the moment event might just happen anyway after the BBQ. No RSVP needed. Just show up. -LA Events: - I've received a decent response for the LA activities. I'll be compiling a mailing list just for those who are interested in keeping in touch with other Alumni down there. If you'd like to be added, please email me. -Alumni Broomball: I also received a suggestion for Alumni /Candidate/Member broomball. I'm looking into that. Currently we have a tentative broom ball planned on the 27th of September at 10pm. There should be Candidates/Members/Officers in attendance. We're still in the process of reserving the rink, so that's why its still tentative, but otherwise it should fly. Come on out and show the younger generation how to play Broom Ball. :) RSVP optional. Mainly smack-talk if you want. Alumni to Alumni: DragonSmilez! Laura Todd Mountain bikers? anyone??? Leon Zhou -I'm still disappointed about the lack of usage of this area. :( Comments: -I've been considering getting us a messageboard on HKN so communication would be easier overall. I'd like feedback on this idea, whether you think you'd use it. Or any other concerns about it. Thanks in advance. -As an additional note, just so we have it in writing. We are NEVER going to sell your personal information you have entrusted us with. The only people who will have access to the list are Officers with a need for it to perform their duty, and OTHER alumni on the list. If however, you'd like more privacy than that, please feel free to tell me. This system is built around YOU. (REPEAT) -If you run into any old HKN who don't know about the Alumni network we're trying to build, please point them our way. -If you consider this spam, and would like to be removed from the Alumnilist, please reply and I'll handle it. Time to study, have a good one. Alan Tse HKN AlumRel Fa01
