[HKN AlumRel] End of Summer 2001 B Newsletter This message sent to alumni, officers, and old-officers. Sup all, Ok, so I lied, this might be more common than I thought it'd be. Administrative Junk: -Old-Officers have been added, so some of you might be receiving this copy twice. I was informed that Old-officers might be alumni, and be expecting this newsletter. Here's your warning, get signed up, cause I'll only send this to old-officers 1 more additional time. -If you signed up again on the alumni-list to correct or add data anytime since early July, please do so again. Due to a confusion in file permissions, that data was lost. If in doubt, go ahead, I'll manually confirm it. -The following alumni, should get in contact with me. Aaron Isaksen, Alan Chou, Jeff Shneidman- I dug up your info from an older copy of the database, if you could resubmit using the form at hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu, I'd be much obliged. Part of the blame is the system being down, so excuse the blatant cut and paste. -I need the following alumn's email address. Leon Zhou, his cory.eecs is gone. -Alumni section now has a database of old newsletters just in case you missed em. Well not really database, but browsable. I'll leave it txt files until someone decides to contribute content. (Hint hint pictures), and then maybe I'll build an html version. http://hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu/alumni/Newsletters/ -I now have a pretty version of the alumni list available upon request. I'll soon password protect and pass out the password, if you'd like to see it, email me. Tshirts/Yearbooks: Blatant cut and paste (skippable) -Another of my jobs is sending out Tshirts/yearbooks to all the alumni who decide to add their name to our spam list..... er mail list. However, since my info is sketchy at best for who's gotten what, I'll rely on the honor system. If you haven't received either shirt or yearbook, please tell me, with your current mailing address, and I'll fix that situation. For any alumni I've already talked to, this doesn't apply to you. :) Just a note, I'll be waiting until the new yearbook is produced before sending it out. If you'd like the older one, inform me, I can send both if Bridge lets me. Activities: _REPLY ASAP_Alumni Appreciation When: Friday, Sept 7, 2001 6:00pm - 9:00pm (Earlier is better cause OSF is anal) Week _AFTER_ labor day _COST_ FREE! (One meal) Notes: The following officers/alumni have RSVPed, and frankly, I'm depressed at such a low turnout. Bernie Lin Morgan Chen Alice Gutman Gagan Prakash Paul Huang Byron Yu Michael Baer Danny Tom Alan Tse -Some where wondering why it was Friday, this was supposed to allow alumni to get out here if they wanted to from other locations. It almost feels as if it didn't work so well. :( -Officers, if you gonna come RSVP, don't assume I'm gonna include you until you do. -If you rsvped, and I didn't list it, I missed it, email me and inform me of my stupidity. :D -As for what I mean by OSF is anal, they won't take a reservation on the weekend. Therefore, we have to showup, with 70% of our people there to be seated. So that's why RSVPing is imperative. The benefit of this, is we get access to the full menu. If you're gonna be late, tell me please, so I can fudge the headcount. I received a suggestion for having an activity in the LA area, and I'd have no problem with that, but I don't know if I could do anything more than be a central board for the ideas to be passed around. I do plan to get a message board eventually set up, so anyone could post about events. If you have an idea for an event in YOUR area and wanted to know if any other alumni were there. Feel free to ask, I'll be willing to get spammed so you could find out. - On that note, if you'd be interested in LA activities, spam me now so I can get the info passed on. I also received a suggestion for Alumni /Candidate/Member broomball. I'm looking into that. Currently we have a tentative broom ball planned on the 27th of September at 10pm. I'll look into turning that into the appropriate theme, but at this point, it isn't set yet. Of course you're always welcome to show up then anyway. Alumni to Alumni: -Nothing :~(. -Come on, you guys have to have something funny/enlightening to share. Comments: -I've gotten alot of encouragement from alumni, and I'd like to thank you for the support. It makes this whole spamming thing easier.... err forget I said spam... but regardless, I appreciate it. Of course, this newsletter is for you, (Alumni), so if you see anything you want changed, adjusted, tell me and I'll see what I can do. -If you run into any old HKN who don't know about the Alumni network we're trying to build, please point them our way. -If you consider this spam, and would like to be removed from the Alumnilist, please reply and I'll handle it. That's all for now, take it easy all, Alan Tse AlumRel FA01
