***MEETING DETAILS***

1. Potluck
-Potluck is Saturday night from 6:00PM - 8:00PM in the Woz
-It’s one of our biggest activities
-And it’s a lot of fun!
-Lots of candidates get challenges at the potluck
-Please come out and sign up on prot to bring something, because so far not that many people have signed up

2. Centennial Project
-Last year was the 100th anniversary of HKN as a whole
-At the conference, there were suggestions to make banners, put up a display case, etc. to celebrate the centennial
-But we already do these things!
-We need to beat Alpha chapter! (UIUC)
-But we can’t do something elitist
-Preferably, we can do something subtle but at the same time do something that would impress the HKN committee
-It also shouldn’t offend other students:
-Ideas that have been discussed so far:
    -Planting a tree somewhere
-Building a statue (not us, we'll hire someone to build it)
-Some type of cement object (or brick) for the CITRIS building
-It’s important that we do something
-It needs to be done by the end of this semester
-Isaac says that they wanted a proposal in January, but Tina notes that this was only so it would be included in
the Bridge magazine
-Our ideas:
-Statues of some kind (possibly bronze)
  -Time capsule
-Plant a tree w/ a time capsule under the tree
-Email Hua if you have other ideas
-The idea is to celebrate HKN’s centennial, not just Berkeley HKN
-HKN has certain core value: scholarship, character, etc.
-Hua suggests protesting the celebration as our project because building something huge to commemorate
ourselves shows a lack of character

2.5 Props
-Robert for getting the EECS survey up and running
-Everyone who helped work on the survey questions

3. E-Week
-Andy wants a ride to Costco; this has nothing to do with E-week =P
-Need suggestions for events to be held during E-Week
-We can hold any event, and within a reasonable budget EJC will fund it for us
-In other words, we can request money to cover food and stuff
-We only get $150 base funding from EJC
-TBP got $400 and that's for program funding (supplies, etc.)
-They got $150 for Telebears advising (to cover food)
-To request money, go to the meeting on Wednesday
-Come up with a budget requesting money
-Andy can’t propose it, but he can vote in favor of it
-Please ask for money because they’ll take that into consideration when giving us $ for next year
-We can't do a barbeque (Dustin says all slots have been filled)
-Suggestions were made that prizes and food be offered at the activity (suggested prizes: $$, iPod)
-Ideas for activities (either afternoon or night); voting is by approval vote:
  -Dunk Tank (8)
  -Starcraft/other games (8)
-Apple Bobbing (winner wins an iPod) (3)
  -Moon Bounce (4)
  -Water Gun/Balloon Fight (9)
  -Remote Controlled Car Race (5)
  -Sumo Wrestling (6)
  -Velcro Suit (3)
  -Rock Climbing Wall (11)
-Instead of having another round of voting to narrow it down, Andy will bring the top ideas to the meeting
-An activity (or maybe more than one) will be chosen based on how much money EJC is willing to give us
-Andy estimates that there are 500-600 dollars available from EJC

4. Induction
-It’s hard to think of ideas for suggestions on the spot at OM
-Isaac will post a new version of the initiation ritual
  -Please read through it!
-The email that Alice sent will be sent out to everyone
-Write down around 5+ suggestions
-Bring them to the next OM (after spring break, since there’s no OM next week)

5. Transfer Students
-Sheila Humphreys just came by
-She helps us out a lot
-She’s teaching a class for transfer students, and needs help finding some transfer students to talk to her students
-If you were a transfer student, talk to Tina about helping Sheila out

6. Sahand’s Stuff
-Candidate phone numbers are now online if you were having difficulty contacting them before
  -hkn/prot/vp/phonenumbers.txt
-See his email for more details
-Isaac suggests a link to this on the main prot page
-If you haven’t signed up for potluck yet, please do so
-Please tell candidates that they don’t have to bring food because there’s been some confusion about that
-Tell candidates about the potluck in general and GO TO THE POTLUCK!

NOTE: No OM next week!
