4. AAD!!

0. Props
-To indrel for raking in info sessions and organizing the Just-In-Time Career Fair w/ the Career Center
-Sheila sends her thanks for everyone who came out to the Masters program session and gave their input
-The department will vote on it at faculty retreat

1. EJC Funding
-Yesterday EJC voted to give us $150, which isn't a lot
-If you want any funding from EJC, draft a proposal and present it to their Fi-Comm committee
-It would be a good idea to get our money's worth since we're one of the largest organizations
-You can TRY requesting for anything
-e.g. last year we even got the fridge!
-It was suggested that studrel could ask for things for the general EECS community
-What we spend this year is what they'll use to base the budget for next year, so try asking for money!

1.5 HKN Emails
-Nam asks that you please try to use your HKN account, especially if you're sending official HKN-related emails
 (e.g. indrel, pub, etc etc)
-It's not just to look professional!
-Calvin noted that when email is sent from non-hkn accounts it gets sent multiple times to people on mailing lists like suicidal@hkn

2. EJC/SWE Date Auction
-EJC/SWE would like people to do publicity for them so that more people will go
-Dustins begs you to help the children! The date auction is for charity, so volunteer to be auctioned off!!
-Tell Dustin or Andy if you're interested
-They also need help updating their website
-Sidenote: They need more girls to sign up to be auctioned off!

3. Banquet Speaker
-Except for the last two times, we usually have a banquet speaker
-Two semesters ago we planned to have Sheila Ross speak but she came down with kidney stones and couldn't make it
-Should we have a banquet speaker this semester?
-Noaa comments that at last banquet, it was cool that it was just HKN people (more bonding)
-Some people feel less comfortable if a professor was around
-The professors' speeches can sometimes be a bit dull
-What if professors were at the banquet but didn't necessarily give a speech?
-Chris points out that the slide show can be a little more risque without the professors there, but Li notes that
the slide show is made PG13 anyway
-Opinions on past speakers?
  -Isaac liked Prof. King
-General consensus is that people wouldn't mind having professors there, but we shouldn't feel compelled to have a speaker
-Calvin suggests we should see who's available and who might be interesting company if they came
-If no one comes to mind, then we will not have a speaker
-Decided: We will try to find a speaker and will vote later on whether we would like them to give a speech or not
-Suggestions for speakers (or maybe just invitations):
  -Patterson
  -Sahai
  -Varaiya
  -Shewchuck
  -Harvey
  -hotornot guys (vetoed: not professors!)
  -Hilfinger
  -Katz
  -Tse
  -Evans (from the math department)
  -Clancy
  -Pierre (126 TA)
  -Gastpar
  -Howe
  -Sastry
  -Malik
  -Lee
-There was some discussion on whether we should vote or whether we should veto some people first
-Should we even consider the non-professors?
-Robert announces that vote will be by approval vote (so vote as many times as you want)
-Isaac suggests that there should there be a threshold number of votes where we won't consider asking them
-Decided: Howe, Patterson, Sahai, and Gastpar

3.5 Candidate Semester
-Sahand wants you to think of candidate challenges and projects that you would like candidates to do
-Please send Sahand the (reasonable) minimum and maximum number of candidates you would like to have
-Bridge wanted as many as possible =), but they're limited by the number of cameras

4. AAD
-Come out and appreciate alumni!
