. be on-time to your office hours (and make yourselves useful! *cough*)
. RSVP for banquet
. ask around for dunkees in the dunk tank
. in fact, read the minutes - they're pretty self explanatory. Anyone
still reading this? HELLO? (long streams of echoes ensue..)

. a suggestion was to have slips for students to write questions on.
. a bag of beans will be provided to me on the day of.
2. E-week, Dunk Tank, High School Outreach (Rupert + Kevin)
-----------------------------------------------------------
High School Outreach
. visited a physics class w/ juniors
. both presentations went fairly smoothly
. Is it worth doing again in future semesters?
- Overall, it was pretty simple to do, as long as EJC can organize it
for us.
- We would need to work with EJC more or with some other society so
that we don't have to focus solely on EECS.
Dunk Tank
. need to find people to get dunked and to staff it
. try to get some faculty to get dunked - somewhere out there, there is
a cool professor who is willing to sacrifice himself for the enjoyment
of his/her hard-working and loyal students. Find him/her!
. next Friday (11-1 or 10-3?), will stay open as long as we can man
it, and depending on how many people we have to get dunked
Tabling
. do we want to tabling in e-week? Yes! Did Rupert collect a list of
sign-ups? Yes! Will Rupert send this list out? Aw hell yeah!
3. Peer Advising (Chris)
------------------------
Tomorrow 5PM-7PM at 521 Cory, and next Wednesday 5PM-7PM at 310 soda
. Please show up and advise! Don't let me resort to my trusty bag o'
beans...
. The department is evaluating the peer advising this semester.
. The second peer advising will conflict with our regular OM time; we'll
have the OM at 7 if we need to have one next week.
For tutoring hours, if your candidate or partnered member is not showing
up, let Chris know. In order to do that, you need to show up to your
hours as well. Don't let me beat the bag o' beans line to death.
4. Banquet (Mimi)
-----------------
Mimi will send out the banquet email. Please RSVP by responding to
banquet (at) hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu
Location: Hs Lordships Restaurant
Menu: Choose from a chicken, beef, or a veggie entree.
Price: $25 for members and officers. Guests are $35 per person.
5. Movie Night (Act)
--------------------
Movie choices:
. Dr. Strangelove
. Bend It Like Beckham
. American Beauty
. Ice Age
. Whale Rider
. Love, Actually
. Loaded Weapon 1
Act will make a decision soon. It had better be good!
6. IndRel Updates (IndRel)
--------------------------
Fall Career Fair: first week of October, because:
. Not so close to Career Center's
. Close to Stanford's
Spring Career Fair: Late February
. AMD site visit: 20 people, encourage people to go!
. HP site visit: 30 people, encourage people to go!
. Set a deadline, and if it doesn't fill up by that time, we should open
it up to other societies.
Met with Department Chairs to clear up infosession issues.
. If a non-ilp compyny wants to do an infosession, we should refer to
ILP (we get commission)
. Notify other societies to do the same
. We can ask other companies, but we can't set up an infosession by
ourselves w/o ILP
. We are now a contact point for companies: this is the important stuff,
since it makes it easier for us to build a relationship with industry
7. Concession Stand (Mimi)
--------------------------
5/13, 9AM at Pac Bell Park
Send email to mimi if you want to participate.
We need to ask if there's a game at 9am.
8. Faculty Advisor (Mimi)
-------------------------
We need a new advisor soon.
What is the role of the faculty advisor?
. S/he can be as active as s/he wants to be.
. Nationals forwards mail to the faculty advisor; a good advisor means
better contact with nationals.
Last semester's list:
Professors
- Sheila Ross
- Tsu-Jae King
- David Tse
- Anant Sahai
- Dan Garcia
- Subramanian
- Gastpar
Will first ask Professor Tse, Sahai, and Gastpar.
9. National Convention (Isaac)
------------------------------
Ways to help out the Alpha chapter with their Centennial Convention:
. Find a distinguished panelist.
. Give a short presentation about how our chapter works.
. Help obtain corporate sponsorship.
. Help with a video presentation.
. Suggest ideas.
For more information and suggestions, talk to Isaac.
