Props to Indrel for all their work over the summer! Speaking of Indrel... (smooth transition cling, were you practicing that?) 2.) Indrel update ----------------- Check out the new website, hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu/indrel . The jobfair has been postponed until the spring semester for several reasons. The Career Center scheduled their fall career fair a week before ours, and they also sent out their invitations earlier. Plus many of our contacts were taken from a previous Career Center jobfair, so they are more likely to choose the Career Center fair over ours. 5 companies have signed up for the spring fair: Microsoft, Cypress, Apple, Rambus, and Aerospace. About 10 other companies have expressed interest. There are several infosessions scheduled for the fall. Upcoming is Microsoft on Sept. 9, Amazon on Sept. 10, and Altera on Sept. 18. Indrel needs pub to handle flyers, act to get the food, and bridge to take pictures that are more presentable to other companies. And HKNers should go to boost attendance (and get free food). We will make about $2500 from the infosessions, and at least $2500 for the jobfair. 3.) Shirts ---------- We will be selling short-sleeves for $8, and long-sleeves for $10. They are sorted into sizes, so please keep them in order. 3.5) Introductions ------------------ Highlights: Eric grew a goatee over the summer. Nchen is now a history major. Chan got pity applause. Mimi spent her summer endagering the lives of many Sobay drivers and pedestrians. 4.) Rupert proposed one night between Monday and Thursday during the second week of September. He will talk to the alumni to see which nights work best. 5.) OM time ----------- # of people with schedule conflicts: | M Tu W Th ------------------------- 5-5:30 | 3 lots 6 7 5:30-6 | 1 5 4 3 6-6:30 | 2 4 2 2 6:30-7 | 2 2 2 2 7-7:30 | 0 2 2 0 From now on, OMs will be Mondays 7pm in one of the classrooms across from the Cory office. Except for next week, when the OM will be Thursday 7pm, because Monday is a holiday. Garcia is the cause of too many schedule conflicts. He will have to be dealt with. 6. Retreat ---------- $25/person, pay Kun. That's $3/meal, TC Garden cheap! (No Mimi, we're not really getting TC Garden.) As a reward, you get bad bad jokes that I found online. Yayy bad jokes! You Might Be an Engineer If.... If you stare at an orange juice container because it says CONCENTRATE. If your wrist watch has more computing power than a 486DX-50. If you have modified your can-opener to be microprocessor driven. If you have more friends on the Internet than in real life. If you have introduced your kids by the wrong name. If you know the direction the water swirls when you flush. If your I.Q. number is bigger than your weight. If the only jokes you receive are through e-mail. (from http://www.theglassceiling.com/952/951_33.htm ) |
